Last year I had an epiphany. How much money can I save per month if I stop buying my usual Dunkin’ order? I used to go to Dunkin’ every morning and get an iced coffee with almond milk. I ordered it on the app, so all I had to do was click a button, walk in, and pick it up. It was so easy, but honestly, it wasn’t even good. Once I bought my french press, I started thinking more about my spendings. That Dunkin’ iced coffee cost me $3.28 every day. That’s an expensive, watered-down, mediocre coffee. So, say I bought my $3.28 iced coffee every day for the month of April. I spent $98.40 total on coffee that month. Personally, I think that is insane.
WHAT TO DO INSTEAD
Buy a french press. Buy some coffee beans. Buy a coffee grinder.
I got my french press from Amazon. Amazon has a ton of french press options. Get one for under $20 and you’re set! Regarding coffee beans, there are coffee beans at Walmart, or you can go to a local shop for coffee beans. I say coffee BEANS because if you buy already ground coffee, your coffee won’t taste as fresh since ground coffee goes bad within hours. So, you’ll need a coffee grinder. These are super simple to use, you just have to make time for delicious coffee.
The cheapest french press on Amazon costs $8.69. The cheapest coffee grinder costs $3.99. The average price of a pound of coffee beans ranges from $8-15. A pound should last 2-3 weeks depending on how much coffee you drink. So, you can spend at least $12.68 to make your own coffee…forever. For at least $8, you can get an entire pound of coffee that will last you at least 2 weeks instead of spending $22.96 per week on that shitty Dunkin’ iced coffee. Wild. I know.
So, that’s why I stopped buying coffeed. Don’t get me wrong- every once in a while I treat myself. Usually if I’m out with friends or family, or in a hurry. But, it’s crazy to think how much money I’ve saved by not buying an iced coffee every single day. Think about it…
